Crouch Compression Test (Knee)
The crouch compression test can be used to evaluate for patellofemoral syndrome or meniscal pathology. To perform this test, have the patient stand with her feet shoulder width apart in a squatting position. Next, ask the patient to move in this position. A positive test for patellofemoral syndrome is if pain is produced in the anterior knee. A positive test for meniscal pathology is pain produced in the lateral or medial aspect of the knee joint.
