Patellar Grind (Osmond-Clarke) Test
The patellofemoral grind test is used to determine patellofemoral syndrome. To perform this test, have the patient lie supine with the knee extended. Place the webspace of your thumb on the superior border of the patient’s patella. Have the patient contract their quadriceps muscle while applying downward and inferior pressure on the patella. A positive test is pain with movement of the patella or the inability to complete the test.
