Roos’ Test (Thoracic Outlet Syndrome)
Roos’ test is used to assess for thoracic outlet syndrome. To perform this test, have the patient flex their arms and elbows to 90 degrees with their elbows braced somewhat posteriorly. Have the patient open and close their fists at a moderate speed for 3 minutes. A positive test reproduces the patient’s usual symptoms within 3 minutes.
