Spurling’s Test

Spurling’s test is a maneuver used to determine cervical spine nerve impingement and radiculopathy. To perform this test, turn the patient’s head to one side and extend the head posteriorly, then apply downward pressure to the top of the patient’s head. A positive test is when the compression causes radicular pain down the patient’s arm.
