Trendelenberg Gait
A Trendelenberg gait is typical of weakness of the hip abductors, gluteus medius and minimus. In patients with a Trendelenberg gait, the contralateral hemipelvis sags when the weak side is in stance phase. A compensated Trendelenberg gait is one in which the patient leans to the affected side during stance phase so that the contralateral hemipelvis does not sag.
